The new Netflix series GLOW, which stands for Glamorous Ladies of Wrestling and was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, is a total treat from the first episode to the last. It’s hysterical. Everyone on the show is clearly having a blast, Allison Brie is PERFECT, Marc Maron is wickedly funny, the series’ ninth episode, directed by the hugely talented Lynn Shelton, was easily my favorite, and this is just one of those purely enjoyable 30 minutes of storytelling that is extremely binge-worthy. Super excited that it’ll be getting a second season, as there’s lots more creative ground to cover. Anyone who is a fan of 80’s period pieces (can’t believe this is a real thing now!) will get a huge kick out of Glow, anyone who is a fan of retro-years wrestling will be thrilled, and the entire thing is fizzy but still with dramatic weight that grounds the show with a true emotional spine. Totally loved it and can’t wait for more.
